I spent the day shopping in Santa Barbara yesterday with my dog Maddy. We had a lot of fun, but by the end of the day my feet were killing me. I even wore walking shoes instead of sandals, but my feet still hurt. My dogs were barkin'! Maddy and I met up with another lady and her Maltese named Sophie. Sophie isn't nearly as cute as Maddy. Here are some pictures from our day together.
What was your biggest cooking disaster?
I generally do not cook. I think I've cooked twice this year. It's such a big affair for such a small outcome. I mean, it takes me all of about 10 minutes to eat and then you have all the clean up. Nuthin doing for this sister!
I happen to be eating right now. It's a simple meal of tuna fish and crackers with a slab of cheddar. Yum! Took me about 3 1/2 minutes to prepare.
Anywho, the biggest disaster? I'd have to say that there were several times as a child that my mom would leave the beans in my charge. She'd say, "Sherry Lynn, don't let the water boil out of those beans. You gotta keep adding water." Yeah, I pretty much always forgot about the beans up until the house developed a funny burning odor and my eyes would pop and I'd go running into the kitchen. Drat! I forgot the beans again!
I hope this works. I copied the link from an e-mail from my mom. You can see Mason and my brother and Mason's sister, Aubrey, here:
My Sister In Law had her baby today. His name is Mason. He had some problems coming into the world. The umbilical cord came out before he did, got all knotted up and cut off the oxyen flow. An emergency c-section was performed and all turned out well. However, it was a horrific experience. My brother was beside himself with fear. Here is Mason in all his glory!
Show us the loveliest flower in your garden.

I don't know what this flower is called. However, it is a vine, I know that much. It is the loveliest flower that grows in my garden.
Here is another snap of my garden. Lovely, but not as lovely.
What are the goofy nicknames you have for your pet? Bonus points for sharing a picture of him/her.

I don't think the names I call my baby are goofy at all. I have Maddy, which I also call Mad Dog, Madlynn, MaDoogle, Schmoopie, and I'm sure there are a few more, which just come out without my even thinking about it. Here is my Schmoopie having dinner. I fed her without the bowl because you get such a great shot that way.
What did you do for fun when you were a kid? How is it different from what you see kids doing now?

I was rotten when I was a kid. Actually, I'm still rotten. When I was bored my friends and I made prank phone calls. I liked to call pool companies and ask to rent a pool for a weekend. Stupid. I'd call the same company more than once acting like I hadn't just called them moments earlier. I'd say, "I just phone so-and-so pools. They won't rent me a pool, will you?" They would get all pissed off and threaten to call the police on me. Of course, this was well before caller i.d.
I picked on my little brother quite a bit. I'd go into his closet and tie all his shirt sleeves in knots so he couldn't get his arms all the way through the sleeve. I'd tie the knots right at the cuff of the sleeve so he'd get his arm almost all the way through. He was about 9 or 10 at the time so he was easily tricked.
But, I did normal things too. I liked to spy on my neighbors, sneak out after my parents went to sleep, steal my friend's Moped, go for joy rides, trick my friends into smoking parsley after telling them it was marijuana, go door to door trying to sell old t.v. guides for a fund raiser for my church, trick my friends into eating "chocolate pudding" Hahahaha! That was a good one! Ah, good times.
It's fucking cold! Last Saturday it was 103, this weekend it's in the 60's. Uk'Fay!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gotta love California.
